REALTORS®, Meet The HR Pro, HR PRO

August 22, 2025

Say Hello to Kate Teves, The founder and COO of The HR Pro, a certified Human Resources Professional, Recruiter and Headhunter. BUZZ is proud to fully endorse her expertise and professional services.

Kate has a unique background arising from a blend of customer care, operations and corporate Human Resources roles while having grown up in the world of real estate. She has identified a gap in the real estate industry and decided to take it upon herself to bring her wealth of knowledge and experience from her past and utilize it in supporting real estate business units of all sizes undergoing growth cycles.

The HR Pro has been helping solopreneurs, teams and brokerages across North America to find amazing talent, retain their team members longer and to create a business vision and culture that supports the continuous expansion of the business.

Q: HR and Formalized Recruitment is a brand-new part of the real estate industry, why is this significant?

A: It comes as no surprise that Human Resources (recruitment included) and real estate are two industries that have generally never sat at the same table. Since most people in the real estate and related industries are self-employed, there has not been a pressing need to know and understand the legal compliance typically associated with traditional employment. However, with recent focus on growing teams (internal and external), the need for admin assistants and social media managers, the involvement of a certified HR professional can not just align your business with your people needs but will also help protect you from potential liabilities and legal disputes. Employment is a legally binding contract and there are rules and regulations that many are simply not aware of, which is what we are here to guide you on.

Q: The real estate industry is very unique and fast paced, while HR is structured and regimented, how well do they work together?

A: HR and Professional Recruitment in the world of real estate look very different than your typical, corporate HR. It is just as dynamic, adaptable, business savvy and full of personality as it’s real estate counterparts.

“Real estate hr is dynamic, adaptable, business savvy and full of personality.”

Q: What resources should real estate professionals consider when growing their business?

A: We strongly recommend using a variety of resources to propel your business. Having a solid business plan that outlines your goals and milestones is step 1, having the right business partners to help you is step 2. Our goal is to ensure your staffing needs meet your business strategy and continuously build the infrastructure of your business as a trusted partner.

“I would not purchase A home without a REALTOR. why hire without an HR specialist?”

Q: What are some recruitment best practices that you can share with us today?

A: There are a few things that any business owner should keep in mind before even starting to recruit that are essential to the success of the hire:

· Have a very clear understanding of what a person in this role will be doing on daily basis.

· Build out your KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) that will be used to measure their performance at 30 days, 90 days and 1 year.

· Start creating a training manual or SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) with step by step instructions for each task (this is time consuming but will pay off quickly).

· Learn to let go – by far the most challenging task!

Q: What does the HR Pro do differently than other recruitment and HR consulting companies?

A: We specialize on the real estate industry almost exclusively which allows us to understand the specific needs and challenges and address them right away. We get to know our clients, their personalities and their existing team members to carefully select the right fit for them whether it is an administrative ninja, a social media guru, a team leader or an inside sales expert.

We got you covered from start to finish.
