The first-ever Leading Change event took place in Calgary on June 19 and the energy in the room was incredible. More than 60 industry professionals, nonprofit partners, researchers, and policymakers came together to explore real estate solutions that support a stronger Alberta.
AREF kicked off with two powerful panel conversations. The first focused on downtown revitalization, featuring innovative meanwhile lease projects that bring artists and creatives into underused spaces downtown, data-driven public space planning initiatives, and ideas to bring new life into Calgary’s urban core with commercial building owners and property managers leading the charge.
The second explored climate resilience in the built environment, highlighting programs designed to help real estate professionals and building owners navigate policy shifts, along with real-world tools to support a low-carbon transition.

“I loved the format; both the formal portion of the panels to get settled and the networking activity which really worked well. The structure of the networking activity helped a lot to get to know other people and learn about their work!”
‘ Thank you to all the speakers, partners, and attendees who made our Calgary event such a success. We can’t wait to continue the momentum at Leading Change Edmonton this October! ‘ AREF
