Celebrating 50 Years of Excellence, Inside the Century 21 Canada National Conference, BUZZ BUZZ MEDIA INC.

March 20, 2026

There are industry events, and then there are experiences that stay with you long after the final session ends.

The Century 21 Canada National Conference in Vancouver was exactly that. Set against the backdrop of a milestone year, the 50th anniversary of the Century 21 Canada brand, this year’s conference delivered something far greater than content and programming. It delivered connection, culture, and a powerful reminder of why this brand continues to stand the test of time, it’s pure GOLDEN.

From the moment you arrived, there was a distinct energy in the air. A sense of pride. A sense of belonging. And most notably, a genuine happiness among attendees that is increasingly rare in today’s fast-paced, transactional environment. It wasn’t just what was said on stage, it was how people showed up for one another throughout the entire experience.

The conference brought together professionals from across Canada, creating a dynamic and diverse environment where ideas, strategies, and stories were shared openly, in the lobby, in the hallways, in the main hall and breakout rooms which were standing room only. The sessions themselves were thoughtfully curated and highly relevant to today’s evolving real estate landscape. From market dynamics to AI, luxury real estate, marketing, shifting consumer expectations, the content reflected a brand that is not only aware of change, but actively leading through it.

What stood out most, however, was the strength of the Century 21 brand itself, a brand that many in the room proudly referred to as the “Gold Standard.” That pride was evident in every detail. From the warm welcome at registration to the carefully designed networking spaces, every element was intentional. Large branded displays celebrating top performers, philanthropic contributions, and iconic leaders created a sense of legacy and achievement that was both inspiring and motivating. The main stage production, paired with immersive visual storytelling, elevated the entire experience and reinforced the brand’s commitment to excellence.

A defining moment of the conference was the 50-year anniversary conversation featuring Founder and Executive Chairman, U. Gary Charlwood, President and CEO, Martin Charlwood in conversation led by Leigh Kjekstad, Vice President Marketing, a key curator of the event. It was a powerful reflection on history, leadership, and the enduring values that have shaped the brand over five decades. Hearing directly from those who have been instrumental in building and evolving Century 21 was both grounding and inspiring. It served as a reminder that success in real estate is not just about transactions, it is about people, relationships, and a long-term commitment to excellence.

Leadership was a consistent theme throughout the event. The presence and energy of Gary Zalepa, Senior Vice President, Network Development and Todd Shyiak, Executive Vice President reflected a rare balance of passion and humility, together, they are the dream team. Their approach to leadership clearly resonates throughout the organization, creating a culture that feels both ambitious and deeply connected. It is this kind of leadership that not only drives performance but also fosters loyalty and trust within a network.

Another standout moment was the Centurion Awards celebration, a true showcase of excellence within the Century 21 community. The creativity and energy brought to the stage, including the unforgettable Academy Award Winning K-pop track ‘ Golden ‘ added a modern and engaging twist to a longstanding tradition of recognition. It was a celebration not just of results, but of the dedication and hard work that goes into achieving them, and everyone was recognized.

I also had the privilege of leading a luxury real estate panel discussion alongside exceptional professionals, including Mark Evernden, real estate agent at Century 21 Bamber Realty Ltd, Calgary., Irina Di Pietro, real estate agent at Century 21 Heritage Group Ltd, Toronto. and Chantal Vignola, real estate agent at Century 21 In Town Realty, Vancouver. The conversation highlighted an important message, luxury is not defined solely by price point, but by the level of care, expertise, and experience delivered to each client. Whether serving a $200,000 buyer or a $10 million client, the principles remain the same, professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence. For those looking to enter or grow within the luxury segment, it is these personal touches and elevated experiences that truly differentiate leaders in the space.

Beyond the sessions and celebrations, what continues to stand out is how the experience lives on because of people who make it last. From the joyous celebrations from The Fulton Sisters, to the incredible momentum of Vanessa Oake Hogan and her Agents, the seeing Nelson and Mary Goulart and their Agents The conference did not end when attendees left Vancouver, it continues to show up daily across social media, in conversations, and in the renewed energy professionals are bringing back to their businesses and communities.

As Century 21 Canada celebrates 50 years, this conference served as both a reflection of its rich history and a clear signal of its future direction. It is a brand built on consistency, strengthened by leadership, and driven by a community that genuinely believes in what it represents.

In an industry that is constantly evolving, that kind of foundation is not just valuable, it is essential.

And if this conference was any indication, the next 50 years look just as strong as the first.
