The Council of Multiple Listing Services (CMLS) today announced that Anne Marie DeCatsye, Esq., Chief Executive Officer of Canopy MLS, has been named the Shuttleworth MLS Executive of the Year for 2025. The award was presented during CMLS Open House, recognizing DeCatsye’s decades-long leadership, innovation, and mentorship across the MLS industry.
“AnneMarie is a strong leader who doesn’t shy away from saying what others are only whispering,” said Denée Evans, CEO of CMLS. “She is willing to be a first mover, to take on the brave things, and to do it out loud. Her candor, courage, and commitment to advancing MLS have made a lasting impact on our industry, and I’m grateful to see her recognized with this award.”
For more than 24 years, DeCatsye has led Canopy Realtor® Association and Canopy MLS, guiding sustained growth and service excellence. Under her leadership, Canopy MLS has:
- Transitioned to an open MLS in the last year and has actively shared its roadmap and communications with peer MLSs navigating similar change.
- Recognized the tremendous opportunity to lower barriers to homeownership through technology and partnerships thus integrating Down Payment Resource (DPR) into property listing data to help agents connect homebuyers with available down payment assistance.
- Expanded its footprint through the acquisition of neighboring MLSs – including NC Mountains MLS in the Asheville region, and MLSs in Rowan, Burke, and McDowell counties – and integration with the Piedmont Regional MLS, extending service across North and South Carolina.
- Advanced technology and member support, including the launch of Ardi, an AI-powered assistant for MLS rules, procedures, and quick support; a partnership with Rayse to increase transparency for consumers and strengthen agent-client relationships; and Rental Beast enhancements within CoreLogic’s OneHome™ platform to streamline rental workflows.
- Modernized data distribution by working toward full RESO Web API compliance, simplifying licensing and data access for brokers, vendors, and partners.
Her commitment to mentoring is well known: she has guided scores of peers and emerging leaders, sharing a leadership philosophy grounded in collaboration, personal growth, and preparing the next generation.
“AnneMarie’s calm, candid and proactive leadership has been a compass for our industry,” said Charisma Southerland, 2025 Canopy Realtor® Association/Canopy MLS president. “She has the ability to bring people together to solve hard problems—and she never loses sight of consumers and the professionals serving them.”
DeCatsye’s industry impact extends nationally. She is a founding supporter of MLS Grid, a longtime contributor to COVE, and a cofounder of the Southeast MLS Alliance – a regional data sharing initiative with Charleston Trident MLS, Georgia MLS, and Realtracs – that serves 100,000+ agents across 11,000+ offices. Her service includes roles on the CMLS Board of Directors and Executive Committee; the NAR Board of Directors representing large regional MLSs; NAR’s Legal Action and Risk Management Committees; the MLS Executive Advisory Group to NAR leadership; and as past chair of the MLS Executives Forum.
DeCatsye’s achievements have been recognized widely, including the National Association of Realtors® 2025 William R. Magel Award of Excellence, RISMedia Real Estate Newsmaker honors (2022, 2024), and repeated inclusion in the Swanepoel Power 200 since 2018. Locally, she has been honored among Charlotte’s Most Admired CEOs (2019, 2022), Women in Business (2009, 2024), and Charlotte’s 40 Under 40 (2001).
