Last week, members of the Cornerstone Association of REALTORS® laced up and hit the ice in support of Hockey Helps the Homeless, raising $14,376.72 and ranking 4th overall in funds raised at the Hamilton/Burlington tournament.
Held on April 10, 2026, team Cornerstone was joined on the ice by former NHL hockey player Michael Zigomanis and competed alongside other teams throughout the day. The event was marked by strong camaraderie, high energy, and a shared commitment to supporting the community.
Proceeds from the event will support the YMCA of Hamilton, Burlington and Brantford programs which actively combat homelessness for men and youth. This includes the YMCA’s Men’s Residence, which provides transitional housing for more than 175 men in Hamilton, as well as the Youth in Transition program, which supports individuals ages 16-24 with access to housing, education, employment, and mental health services.
“Playing in Hockey Helps the Homeless means more than just a day on the ice, it’s about coming together as a community to create a real impact off the ice.” said Rochelle Edwards, Team Co-captain “Seeing how much we raised to support our at-risk neighbours and young adults in the Hamilton and Burlington area was incredibly humbling. Our team showed up, represented our profession, competed hard, and most importantly, played for something bigger than ourselves. If you’re thinking about getting involved, do it! You’ll leave with a full heart and a whole new perspective.”
