The Canadian real estate industry lost one of its true gentlemen this month, and we are completely heartbroken. It has been hard to put thought to paper and feelings into words but through time…
How does one pay tribute to a man who dedicated his life to elevating others? A man whose impact stretched far beyond the walls of his own organization, touching professionals across Canada and around the world. A man who understood that success was never measured solely by growth, market share, or awards, but by the lives he influenced along the way.
For many, Conrad Zurini was the Broker of Record and a respected leader within the REMAX International Family, REMAX Escarpment and REMAX Niagara. For others, he was a trusted colleague, a mentor, a friend, and a source of wisdom. To the thousands of professionals whose careers were shaped by his passion and guidance, he was a teacher who believed that investing in people was the greatest investment of all.
“We’re deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Conrad Zurini. Conrad was a member of the REMAX community for nearly 30 years and was always a strong supporter of REMAX in Canada. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and agents during this difficult time.” Don Kottick, President of REMAX Canada
Conrad’s story began long before he became one of the most recognized leaders in Canadian real estate. In 1980, his parents, Louis and Ann Zurini, purchased one of the first RE/MAX franchises in Canada – REMAX Del Mar, laying the foundation for what would become RE/MAX Escarpment and RE/MAX Niagara in Burlington Hamilton, two of the most successful and respected brands in the country. Under the Zurini family’s stewardship, Conrad, his sisters Joey and Maria, grew the organization to more than 1,200 agents and 14 branches throughout Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, Niagara, Ancaster, Stoney Creek, and surrounding markets. Conrad played an instrumental role in shaping its culture, vision, and reputation for excellence. He truly was the voice and face that people came to recognize, admire and trust.
A lifelong student of innovation, Conrad was often ahead of the curve. Whether embracing emerging technologies, social media, marketing strategies, or new ways of serving consumers and agents, he consistently sought opportunities to bring the very best to the people around him. He understood that growth was not simply about building a business, it was about building people and wanted them all to be viewed as true professionals of their craft. That was perhaps his greatest gift and perhaps why he founded RealIntro, a Canadian real estate platform that combines agent profiles, property search, lead generation, and brokerage marketing tools into a single website. I remember how excited he was to create this platform almost a decade ago.
He genuinely cared about helping others become better leaders, better professionals, and ultimately, better versions of themselves. His influence extended far beyond his own brokerage, contributing to the advancement of the Canadian real estate industry while leaving an imprint on professionals across Europe under the leadership of Michael Polzler, CEO REMAX Europe. REMAX Europe has grown to over 34,000 Agents, 2,400 offices in over 40 Countries around the world and Conrad’s voice was part of its shaping. People are captivated by his words, inspired by his vision, and energized by his innovative thinking, always putting a fun spin on everything including our favourite shares ‘ “What we should be talking about this week…” ‘ weekly educatainment on Social Media – he knew how to deliver facts and inspire people to listen.
A little Storytelling
Working with Conrad at REMAX Escarpment Burlington, alongside my husband, well, it was just the beginning. My first experience witnessing his impact on the global stage came while I was speaking at the RE/MAX Argentina Conference. My husband was unable to attend so I introduced Dotti and Sebastian Sosa, Owners of REMAX Argentina and REMAX Uruguay to Conrad Zurini, Broker of Record at RE/MAX Escarpment, to share his expertise on brokerage leadership, systems, and growth strategies. There was simply no one better. I knew he would leave a lasting impression, and he did exactly that. Oh and that 15 hour flight there and back, that was Real Estate School, we could have written a book!
Conrad’s ability to simplify complex business concepts, share proven systems, and inspire leaders resonated deeply with everyone in attendance. What began as a single international speaking engagement soon evolved into a global platform, ultimately leading him to share his knowledge with brokerages and professionals throughout Europe and beyond. That journey also led to his partnership with RE/MAX in London, where we also had the privilege of speaking on their global stage.
One of my fondest memories was standing alongside Conrad during one of the first live listing presentation demonstrations ever delivered in Argentina. The audience was completely captivated. Conrad brought structure, clarity, and organizational excellence to the process, demonstrating how real estate professionals could effectively communicate their value as trusted advisors. I still remember playfully giving him a hard time as I took on the role of the seller while Conrad played the agent. The audience loved every minute of it, and so did we.
What made Conrad’s presentations so impactful was that they were never about salesmanship. They were about professionalism, service, leadership, and raising the standard of our industry. He taught people not only how to grow a business, but how to build trust, create systems, and serve clients with excellence.
His commitment to advancing real estate was equally evident at home. Conrad was a member of our very first organizing committee when BUZZ hosted its first Conference – REBar West End in 2010 at the Mississauga Living Arts Centre. Long before industry conferences embraced conversations around innovation, technology, leadership, and the future of real estate, Conrad was helping us shape meaningful content and identify the trends that would soon transform the Canadian marketplace.
He was never interested in simply following change, Conrad wanted to help lead it. More importantly, he wanted others to come with him. That was Conrad’s gift.
He opened doors. He shared ideas freely. He mentored generously. He celebrated the success of others as enthusiastically as his own. He understood that leadership was never about standing above people, but about lifting them higher, lifting the industry higher. Because of that, his influence will continue to be felt for generations of real estate professionals to come, globally.
To the entire Zurini family, Conrad’s wife and daughter, the leadership team, REALTORS®, staff, and everyone at RE/MAX Escarpment and RE/MAX Niagara, our hearts are with you during this difficult time.
Conrad’s legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, the leaders he inspired, the businesses he helped build, and the friendships he so genuinely cherished.
Thank you for your wisdom. Thank you for your generosity. Thank you for your friendship.
Rest peacefully, dear friend. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
